| Tech Wizards send 17 students to the High Tech U Program -- Wins $3,000 in scholarships Date: January 16-18, 2006 Taking its cue from local population growth trends, global industry association SEMI has teamed with Intel and co-sponsors ESI and PGE to ensure that Hispanics — the nation’s fastest growing ethnic group and largest minority group — will be part of tomorrow’s high tech workforce. Through its High Tech U program, January 16-18, 2005, the industry energized and excited local Hispanic high school students about math and science, and high tech careers. Approximately thirty students from Aloha, Forest Grove, Glencoe, and Hillsboro High Schools participated. Student selection was conducted by the Oregon Council for Hispanic Advancement (OCHA) in conjunction with high school guidance counselors and teachers. Students participated in 3 days of hands-on labs and experiential learning that culminated in a graduation ceremony and was attended by students and parents. Four Scholarships were awarded to Tech Wizard students - $1,000 Leadership Award - Nefti Rodriguez, Hillsboro High
