| Tech Wizard Students Embrace Technology and Win Scholarship Dollars
Jonathan Sanchez (left) and Nefti Rodriguez (right) both credit the Washington County 4-H program, Tech Wizards, for providing them an opportunity to participate in the 2006 High Tech U that was held in Hillsboro in January. As a high school senior and third year participant in the Tech Wizard program, Nefti has learned that technology is where he wants to be and with the help of the $1,000 scholarship that he won at the HTU event, plans to apply for a work/study internship at Intel Corporation. His long term goal is to become an engineer. When asked what he likes best about the Tech Wizard program, he said he not only values the access to technology but the opportunity to learn life and leadership skills. Jonathan Sanchez was introduced to Tech Wizards two years ago by a
friend and he enjoys the interactivity associated with the hands-on,
experiential learning style of the program. As a High School Junior,
Jonathan’s goals are more immediate. He told me “for now,
I want to keep my grades up”. Jonathan won a $500 scholarship
at the HTU event. Press Contact: Lisa Conroy, 4-H Faculty
