Part 1: Wireless clutter 2 4GHz Band
Most current wireless routers support the 802 11g (Wireless-G), and many begin to support 802 11n (Wireless-N) after the specification is complete in October 2009. If you bought a laptop computer or wireless router after 2009, it is likely that they will support 802 11n and 802 11g.
Wireless-G and N, respectively, may use a common network frequency 2 4GHz, it’s the same old 2 4GHz that has spent the past 802 11 and 802 11b networks, and also most of the office phone and wireless remote controls.
With so many devices 2 4GHz home, and neighbors surround you, 2 4Ghz networks are very full of dozens maybe even hundreds of wireless devices.
Reduce interference to some degree, 2 4Ghz network is divided into 14 channels, each of which has a frequency very close to 2 4GHz. They have 2 412, 2 417, 2 422, 2 427, 2 432, 2 437, 2 442, 2 447, 2 452, 2 457, 2 462, 2467, 2 472, 2 484 GHz.
North America, only the first 11 channels are used, while the rest of the world, all of the first 1913, Japan also uses the last channel 802 11b standards.
Most of the 2 4GHz device can select the channel frequencies to November 1. The greater the difference in frequency, less interference devices encounter. Setting the device from the mixed channel could help a little in 2003, when not so much the Wireless-G devices was about.
However, it does not really help much in 2010. By default, all wireless routers use channel 6, one in the middle. If you and your neighbor did not change the channel router, “in which the page you are stuck in Channel 6, which is a lot of other equipment. Even if you’re smart enough to switch to channel 1 or channel 11, the laptop will probably still go head-and shoulder someone else’s equipment to the same or nearby canal.

The new Wireless-N standards can be used in both 2 4GHz and 5 0GHz bands.
Even if so, most routers support the Wireless-N still does not support 5GHz, and they use the same old, messy, 2 4GHz. Of course, completely clean environment, you can still take advantage of Wireless-N’s wider and faster data transfer rate. But if the router is sitting in a noisy 2 4GHz environment, it might not work equally well.
That’s why so many users still do not feel much better after upgraded to Wireless-N router. Their gaming, P2P downloading, file transfer or streaming media is still slow or jerky, or they stop altogether from time to time.
Sure, the router may be overheating or incorrect firmware, but you are more likely to be noisy, cluttered wireless environment, which have to deal with wireless communications. It is like the terrible congestion in the afternoon every day, just a router.
Fortunately, the Wireless-N supports the 5 0GHz, and it’s like an entirely new open world, where wireless devices can not escape.
