I bought a WUSB600N wireless adapter to support the 5 5 years old Sony Pentium 4 WUSB600N is the size of thumb drive and it uses a USB connection at one end. It comes with a USB stand for use in desktops, but can also be connected directly to laptops.

So far the device has worked well, but. . . I do not install the device’s instructions directions. Having had previous problems with the Linksys software, wireless card, I took the hint of another reviewer and I’m hooked on it and use the Windows XP install utility equipment installed in the device. Use only the driver off the Linksys installation CD. I use the XP wireless network connection to manage it. Verizon Wireless G Router is on the second floor in the basement and I use this connection without problems.

WUSB600N I think is great, small size takes up almost no space on my desk and the USB format means that I can switch between machines. I am completely satisfied and would recommend it – the installation of warning.

If you buy this product, make sure that it is version 2, or you do not use or intend to use the Win 7 Operating System. If it is version 1 is not a driver available for Win 7. In addition, Linksys will not tell you that they intend to develop Win 7 driver version 1 Heads up!

I bought this adapter for my daughter’s desktop computer and hope to get a decent range. I had an old wireless “B” PCI Adapter Netgear for years, and the signal was always a very marginal on this computer.

I also bought a Linksys WRT600N router to upgrade my entire wireless system. The idea of two-lane 2 4/5Ghz seemed attractive. In addition, I thought that by purchasing the same manufacturer, I would be very few things.

I have four computers in the 3 x wireless “G” (XP SP3 + Vista SP1 + MAC) + 1 x wireless “B “(XP SP3), then this USB Wireless N ‘computer would have been capable only of all the additional features and different.

installation of the USB adapter software went very well and it is linked to almost immediately. So I thought I was done. Almost immediately my daughter started complaining missing link problem. I did not accuse it of his finagling wireless software, but it became clear that he was right. The system would take a long time to connect after boot up the computer, so do not cut off when 2 or 3 minutes, and it can be combined again 30 minutes later date. I could not self-power link (although the Linksys software advisor to say that I was connected to a router).

In summary I asked for technical support today and was surprised to speak to people after more than 2 minutes. But after 50 minutes on the phone, and many considered when he was asking for someone else, he came back saying that I’d better go back to the USB adapter and get Linksys WMP300N which he vowed to have two radio band (although I’ve read somewhere that it operates on 2 4 GHz only).

Too bad I bought online, but it was the Amazon, so I will come back today.

I bought this adapter with dual-band WRT600N router and game adapter WGA600N dual-band (all the Linksys Dual-Band). When setting up the router and game adapter without any problems, I tried to connect your computer to the network WUSB600N.

This adapter comes with USB extension cable, with the bottom end of the adapter so you can carry a good location. The best reception, Windows notifies 802 11N connect to 270 Mbps. When the connection to my router, which was almost exactly one floor above link quickly slowed down and settled between 12 Mbps and 27 Mbps. This means that 802 11n the level of this adapter was worse than the performance of the previous 802 11g adapter I was running on the same computer. In addition, I noticed that I was unable to transfer any large files across the network (LAN 802 11n, 802 11n 802 11n is, and has 802 11n 802 11g on the other band). Transfer simply hang, and the link does not work anymore. I could just restore the connection by removing the adapter and then plugging it back in. I eventually found that I could transfer large files to connect the adapter directly to my USB port, but the reception was very bad there.

Overall I would say that this matter is not worth the money I paid for it. It will probably be enough to connect to 802 as a last resort 11n network, but it seems to be pretty picky about the USB power, and I did not get a satisfactory connection with it, even though I have all Linksys equipment.

  5. Cline W. Frasier Says:

About 5 hours of work, including hours of phone support for the Linksys, I do not get this network adapter to connect to the Internet in my Windows 2000 Pro computer via my Linksys WRT160N wireless router. Wireless-N adapter to connect to WRT160N, but not on the Internet. When I replaced my Wireless-N old WUSB11, WUSB11 connected immediately. Plus, Wireless-N software is much slower than the WUSB11. Wait phone support was short. However, a person does not seem to know nothing, but the script he had received – the actual debugging is not part of the debate.

I thought I was not satisfied with Linksys equipment for years. This new product is returning to Staples tomorrow to see if any other device works better.
