I just had this week, but I have already begun to use it a lot and is pleasantly surprised to see how much I can do this little dog!
You can do it anywhere, because it is small in size Paper and ultra-light laptop. Traditional Notebook notebooks are designed for desktop replacement, so they may end up too big, too heavy, and usually too * much *, and e-mail reading or editing a Word document in a few minutes you are awaiting the train.
U100 seems, however, is better suited to moving frequently, and using every moment you can save. It is a large size, which is larger than 10 “and it will no longer be classified as” netbook-class laptop, which is less and less practical view should be of serious use. So, after removing the bloat, make my own software (Office 2003/2007, MSN, Skype, AVG, Firefox 3, ZoneAlarm, Adobe PDF, heck even Photoshop CS3! use unnessary processes run MSCONFIG. After setting all up just as nature intended running Perfect Disk Defragmenter and boot defragmentation is passed down to my U100 was good to go. (also almost) But there were a couple things first …
On…. 1 6GHz Intel Atom processor… well, overclocked it more precisely:
It is wonderful, because it is out of the box, but you can get it to go 24% faster if you update your BIOS 1 10B Turbo mode, then switch Fn + F10, when it is connected to the mains. This does not invalidate the warranty, since it is an official BIOS update MSI. Fn + F10 when running battery underclocks * * as the processor is only 800 MHz and the display brightness is reduced, prolonging battery life. I know it’s pretty cool. Lighting the power to show what three power modes are currently in use.
I tested the computer freeware utility called “cpuinfo. exe” what clock speeds * really * was when it was running 1) “Eco-mode (green indicator light) 2) normal power saving mode (blue light) and 3)” Turbo mode “(power light goes to orange), I concluded that the central U100 happily purring along at 1984MHz when overclocked, so it is in principle equally increased by 24% as the BIOS option notes. You can select 8%, 16% or 24%, but from what I’ve read it is running stable for all is 24% (including myself) so you can also set a maximum overclock BIOS, you can always change it later if you want.
24% increase in speed a bit less than 2GHz is awesome, especially when all the other Atom netbook processor uses the same processor and is not overclocked (the best of my knowledge) are so stuck on 1 6GHz. So the U100 has a clear advantage over its rivals here.
What about memory?
Includes 1GB, takes about 20 minutes and only about $ 40 a double maximum 2GB. You are not a guarantee of this, and it is dead easy. Take the 9 screws from underneath and pull the bottom out, just remember the rod is carried on board 1GB DDR2-667MHz memory, and expansion slot does not recognize the 2GB module. So fill the empty slot with a 1 GB and that’s it, the memory has doubled. I almost bought a 2GB module by mistake before I read the onboard memory.
Newer U120 apparently can not be upgraded to 1 GB of memory, has the same processor, and have a shorter battery life. You are * much * better, U100, if only because you are not stuck with 1GB of RAM.
What about the hard drive?
160BG hard drive, this small 1kg laptop is very rich, you would not be surprised to get half that capacity device such as this. In fact, some versions apparently are not transmitted 80BG drive instead. All my programs installed on the Windows operating system, I still have 129GB to play!
Built-in card reader works well with my camera Sony Memory Stick Pro card, and also take SD cards, and probably all of the main memory type.
wireless card:
internal wireless card an excellent reception and I have not had any dropped connections since I bought it. It works with all three wireless standards (802 11b/g/n) and, of course, acts as WEP / WPA wifi encryption.
1 3MP Webcam is good enough, the speakers are very small for a laptop and very useful, but when I’m home I can plug my Creative I-Trigue 3300 (January 2 of my favorite system)
Fortunately, Touchpad keys are not under the sides of the touchpad, which many other netbook I’ve seen is. It’s something I would never fight nice. Although I like the trackpad, can I plug my USB mouse when it is used in the home, because it is easier to use.
PORTS: 3 USB ports (two left and one right), VGA port ( when connected to my Samsung Syncmaster it can support large 19 “LCD’s native 1400 x 900 and looks great!) This is a good, taking into account the graphics board, normally spends his time we U100′s 1024 x 600 native resolution instead. Only when you want to copy the video output to an external LCD * and * as the U100′s own evidence that it would be forced to show the same 1024 x 600 resolution external display. This is not a problem, just a remark. Normally, I would have only one or the other currently active.
BLUETOOTH January 2 is supported. I have not used it yet, but it is nice to have all the BT devices around these days.

Criticism:
Point-of-key and the comma key to slightly reduce the size, but I’m used to it already. It only took a few days to adjust the ten-finger system.
Be careful not to buy a bilingual Canada. London Drugs sell it at good old U.S. keyboard, but the Stock Staples U100 suffers from all sorts of extra keys for typing in French accents more easily, and most of the keys are all in French and English, the mess is annoying. Too bad no one pointed out it is likely to be of no use to anyone outside of Quebec.
is a little heavy in front, as the battery status, not a problem really, but something to remember when positioning it in your lap for writing.
There is no CD / DVD-ROM drive. You do not need it in any case, however, only move the contents of a CD onto a USB stick on another computer (or network) and use them as always. Optical drives take up space and use of battery power, so no they are not a big loss, though it seems strange to have a laptop, which does not CD-ROM drive 21-century!
two other important points:
you can install Mac osx86 (hacked version of OSX that can run non-Apple devices . installer of Google and how-to guide.) The hugely popular mod… so I hear.
You can install Linux on it deserves more attention than I gave it.
(You can dual boot, or even triple the advantage of systems with Windows, Linux and Mac osx86, depending on personal preference, and computers)
“mini laptop” is intended to compromise the efficacy and add functionality to their portability. That’s why they are often thought of as mobile internet devices unable to do anything even moderately exciting…
… but when you are running at 2GHz, 2GB RAM , and a 160GB hard drive and all peripherals on board you can hope for, it does not seem to compromise, after all!

See the video here: http://www. amazon. com/review/R2FKNVALTPAMZK update 9.12 COMPARISON: This video is compared with the Acer Aspire One AOD250-1165 10 1-inch screen. Both the Acer and MSI are very similar. I have been on the MSI Wind or so, and I love it, I bought the Acer as a gift my boyfriend.
Couple of things that I forget to mention. Acer is not more “bloatware” (McAfee Internet Security Suite test version of Google Desktop, Carbonite Online Backup, Acer Grid Vista) then it is the MSI Wind, so I did delete a couple of programs. This is really a personal preference. Some people want to be as much as possible to try out new software and new programs. I like the bare bones of netbook so that I can add things according to my needs, without really opening a lot of hard disk space. Both are 160GB hard drive. Acer is a tad thinner than a little off, but MSI are listed in the 2 3 kg, while Acer has 2 4 lb
They are exactly the same video processor, video, although I said I thought Acer was a bit better image quality. This could really just had a video I watched (and quality), not necessarily the video features of netbooks. Both are actually available in white. MSI Wind to win me on a somewhat larger keyboard and display without.
ORIGINAL REVIEW OF MSI Wind:
this price, you really can not go wrong. They call them “netbook”, but really, they are just a small laptop, because it has all the same features and more (hard drives, RAM, processor) and my 2 year old HP. It is different in that it weighs about 1 / 2 and the laptop, which I think is just brilliant. Someone has already commented to me that certainly does not find smaller 10 “screen when you start a netbook, so its definitely the best bunch. Take a huge 17″ or too small for 8 9 “.
I mainly use my laptop Internet, itunes, skype, AIM, and occasionally Microsoft Word. I also send pictures often and do a lot of typing (as the reviews read now!). I did many other comparisons of wind patterns and other signs. I stuck around [...] To get people to feel things are, how to easily fix the small things, etc. I think this forum is really valuable and it is a good source to use if you do not get MSI.
other brands, I know that Acer is coming out with 10 “monitor soon and at the same time that interested me, I liked everything I heard the MSI and did not want to wait, so this was my choice.

specifically choose this, because the new U120 model is ugradable RAM 2 GB, and I also like the price and the look of this better then others. On a side note: I do not see hear they will release a new model u120s are upgradeable to the next two months or so. but I love the mixture of black and white, I think laptops strictly one color or another. I have also been more concerned about weight, then the flow now, and I discovered later, I get 6 cell battery and have both the price was just to get one of only 6 cells.
This small device is wonderful, but some are not so worried about it.
Start fast. Built in webcam and microphone work well for already tested them out of Skype and it was very easy to find my way around the disc, without manual intervention. The display is very bright and vibrant, and has a matte finish what I wanted. On my HP was shiny and seemed to collect dust, fingerprints, and really caught the spotlight in the sun.
Video Viewing / you tube is good. If you have any problems with it you may need to update your Flash Player. I think we can say that it would be nice if the speakers grew slightly louder, but thats no big deal.
Trackpad is fine with me. Its smaller then a standard laptop, but I personally use a wireless mouse, so it does not bother me much, but also use it for starting out initially it was not a huge difference. You can also easily remove the plate, with the fn + f3, so that you do not hit it when you write.
So far, the wireless is stable and have not had any problems. Color MSI Wind is pretty, its shimmering, creamy white color, as opposed to a shocking white. When I go unplugged power, it told me I was 2 hours and 11 minutes, my 3 cell battery. I have dimmed the screen a bit and seems to have done the difference. The keyboard is easy to measure. I’m pretty fast typer and so far has not been a major flubs, except for BACKSPACE is located near some of the other weird one, so I just need to be sure that it was. You Shift on both sides, so no matter which you favor, you are all set! I have uploaded a photo stock images to see details of the keyboard.
I’ve downloaded the images from the camera memory card and easily went directly to the built in slot. One thing I noticed when you start this system for the first time. Internet Explorer loaded on here seems to be old, so I could not do tabbed browsing, that I’m accustomed to, but then a new window for each new site. About 5 minutes, I upgraded for free online Internet Explorer 8, and it has tabbed browsing and more.
The only thing was a bit disappointed, but this is only a privilege, was the fact that the power could was black. I think that looks better and more unified if it is white as well.
I hope things are even more wonderful to say about this notebook.

Best price for this product is this week here on Amazon. The product is very decent, however, 3-cell battery is not the road. The battery is fully charged 99% of the show 1 hour and 46 minutes remaining. Not only is this a short battery life, I clocked 1hr. 46 minutes left of the clock itself and was only 56 minutes to exit full. This is certainly the reason why MSI netbook makes the same model for improved 6 cell battery pack. Go for extra [. . . ] Bucks for 6 cell battery.

Mostly the official MSI Wind U100-451US 10 works well in Leopard 5. 6. Installation is easy, if you’re going to the retail industry. But keep in mind a few things. .
This version comes Bison. 1903 webcam is not working Photo Booth (not the current way of doing this work, because after this review)
built-in microphone does not work OS X
Headphone jack does not work natively, and you need to use switcher app and manually tell it, either use the built in speaker or headphones off.
domestic Wi-Fi card is Wi-Fi card, chip-makers of application. It works, but it considers the application to your dock. If you want to use OS X is built in AirPort utilities need to buy a different WiFi card (Dell 1510). If you install this will void the warrants.
Original display Wind does not display a native OS X as some programs do not fit correctly.
Other than the Wind is large. Sure, three cell battery is a terrible time for 1h 45 minutes. But hey you can not really small MacBook. My daughter is the primary user of this and really like it.
So if you’re considering running Leopard 10 5. 6 this just to keep in mind the above then you scratching your head why some things work and why some do not.

Pros: I decided to wait a while before I wrote again, so I could give some insight that went beyond just my first impression. My OBE (Out of Box Experience) was brilliant. I looked at a number of different models before you chose this. I was leaning heavily towards the Acer get until a friend lent me his MSI for overnight test drive. The display is very impressive and I found to fit the full width of the web page very useful. I’m pretty clumsy touch typist and I found the keyboard is sufficient to accommodate my paw and I hope the technology.
My main purpose to get a netbook was something that was as portable as possible and still can not surf the internet with relative ease. I recently purchased a laptop for my wife, she is an accountant and demanded that the keyboard is a full-size keyboard, and it is 10 also. I got a very nice machine for his incredible display all the bells and whistles. The problem was that about 9 pounds, it was not anything I would be careful lug around.
Portability, ease of surfing and the price of my key factors I have happily been awarded ($ 300). This computer quickly exceeded my expectations. I noticed that not only could easily surf the web, but this computer was more than I hoped for. It easily works office and most other application you care to throw it relatively easy (except for heavy gaming). I suspect that this is partly due to the fact that it comes to XP Home Edition instead of Vista. This machine will never be a good choice for a primary computer, but it is what it is supposed to do very well and then some.
Aims to keep the weight and cost down, I wanted three cell battery. I knew this would limit my time that I spend away from the wall outlet and I get about 1:45 of the value of real time full. Keeping track down the brightness as low as possible and turning off unnecessary features will certainly help. I have the adapter in my vehicle, I bought a Sam’s Club, where I can shoot all the small and medium sized AC equipment from my cigarette lighter. I would like to highly recommend getting one because it really helps! I think I paid 30 bucks for something a two-pack a couple of years ago. I have one in my car and one of my wife’s SUV.
WiFi, this is excellent. I can very easily signals and dropouts are well within acceptable levels. Webcam although not great, gets the job done. I’m not sure if this thing has Bluetooth or not. Bluetooth software is there, but the box that the computer will show that there is no Bluetooth. Since I have no bluetooth devices, I can not determine if the Bluetooth is exist or not.
Processor is better than I expected, and run programs faster than I thought it would. Although only 1 GB of RAM, this thing works well. At this point, I am very confused in relation to the processor. I understand that the Atom 270 is one of the core, but when that time the task manager, the presence of two cores. When I monitor the CPU usage of Task Manager window, it behaves just like dual-core should be. Each core is individually and independently from the others. I’m either a dual-core processor, or I am missing something.
Cons: As I said, my OBE was an exceptional and I would have written this review on my computer I would have easily given it 5 stars.
After three weeks my computer ceased to be used on battery power. I do not have a clue what happened, but one day it simply stopped working. It still worked well in AC but I bought a desktop. Turning my computer carefully and I usually get at least six years away from the computer. I suspect, was simply a loose wire inside.
Amazon made it very easy to return to the point and I got a replacement as soon as possible. If I remember correctly, I filled out the RMA on Sunday and I got a replacement the following Thursday. I sent a defective unit back via parcel post, and I paid the receipt of notification. I received a message back to the Amazon and the USPS so that a return was made.
While the exchange was very short-term, OBE fell far from the first computer. The first annoyance was that the processor was not as fast as the first. I can not gripe too much at this stage, because the Atom is clearly marketed to 1 6 GHz processor and I got that on both occasions. MSI bios cool thing is that you can overclock the processor. You can choose 8, 15 or 24% increase in rated speed of the processor. The basic idea is to start small and work your way upwards until you hit 24% or your computer locks whichever comes first. Do not worry if your computer is locked you can reboot and calculate speed.
The first computer that I got a ramp, it makes me even more by 15%, the second computer only allowed me to bump it grew by 8%. I deal with this disappointment, but nothing that can really be considered against the MSI as the Intel processor is clearly rated as 1 6 GHz, and more. All of the above is a sauce and is due to minor defects of silicon, which determine the amount of over clocking, which can be obtained.
The second question, however, is something I feel I can be against MSI. It’s been a different picture, which has been submitted to two computers. The first was flawless and everything works perfectly the first time. Another computer suffered a MAJOR memory leak when using Internet Explorer 6 I had heard this before, but I had never seen a computer that was it. In principle, when I got on the web pages for each opening about 50-75 MB of RAM, which was never published. It took me quite some to find out that this occurred. I would like to go online and surf for about 15 minutes I would get full of errors. If I had closed IE and then reopen it I could go on for about 15 minutes.
Clearly something was very wrong. Although I have installed all the patches, I still have a memory leak. I could follow memory leak Having Task Manager open while I surfed, I even update IE 8, although the memory leak was not so bad, it was still acceptable.
Finally bombed by the computer during the boot process by hitting F3, where F3 is the top left of the screen. This is not a complete re-install the image to design the drive. When I am re-shooting the computer and install all necessary updates for IE6 I took another spin, and things were much improved, although it was still noticeable memory leak. Leak was so small that I could be a good surf session and not run out of memory. It was something that I could live, if I had, but I wanted a better fix.
In the end I decided that the best approach is to try Mozilla Firefox. I installed Firefox and the “gay” memory leak disappeared! Although I have just started using Firefox, I must say that it is sooooo much faster than IE! It may be all the bells and whistles that IE is especially interoperability with other Microsoft applications, but what are just browsing, this is how IE hands down!
< ; br /> Other thoughts: Overall I am very pleased with this computer. The price is fantastic and has given the small size of this thing produces better than expected performance. I can only give this product 4 stars rating, because I should not have to go though all the hoops that I have done to strengthen my memory leak. Because what I know now, I will not hesitate to buy a computer, but I would save myself the hassle and install Firefox immediately. I am very pleased with Amazon return policy, and they made it very easy to return item.
Addition to advice, make sure you keep it all when you get the package. Just set it aside in a nice safe place, because you never know. This is the old way, and even keep my shipping materials. Thus, if you must send it back to wake up then you can send it back just the way you got it. This can save time and money on unnecessary work. You can not download the restocking fee, if you do not send it back correctly. Also (and my wife was a fun laugh at me this), I document the whole repackaging my digital camera so I have additional evidence that I have sent everything back. Just because I’m paranoid, does not mean that someone is not intended to get me
