I’ve been a PC users, because PCXT days. Now I have a son. I actually was surprised at how easy it is to learn the mac way of doing things.

I am a programmer by trade (no cash coder, but the mainframe database) and I have decided to buy the iMac, because my desire to create apps on my iPhone. I was shocked to hear that I could keep my Windows environment. I could have both worlds.

So far, everything is very easy to install and use. I had the windows / vmware installation and install the iPhone SDK on the first day. Come from the PC, I am delighted, elegant user interface is also a mouse and keyboard are stylish. The screen is very nice. Colors look very good, but I have not done any photo editing and color correction / matching (so you must get a good view that one).

Windows works very well, and I’ve had no problems with it.

I do not see changing back to my computer to use (no game). This iMac is the best value IMO compared to other Macs and MacBooks. Even compared to the new Mac mini (if you add in additional costs for a good monitor, keyboard and bluetooth mouse magic, mini iMac price closed the year). I recommend this for any iMac deveoper used as the base system. Power seems more than enough more that the ability to run windows as well and you have one of the best values in the development of the system I have seen.

All of this and let’s face it mac experience is very pleasant, and it development does not hurt to extend the boy arena.

After a week, I am satified already a Mac user.

I’ll update after the year or so of use and abuse.

This version of the iMac is amazing.
    Pros:
1 This computer is fast and stylish. Look beautiful.
2 o fan noise, or both. If someone is close to the eyes, they can hardly tell if it is a seating area. This is not ALLINONE other desktops i owned. Ex Dell Studio 15 makes more noise then my hood.
3 engine has just enough of any thing. 500GB HD PLUS. 4gb ram is hardly used.
4 Screen is beautiful. Some people display is like a mirror and gets a lot of reflection. But I love the display. The display can be moved easily, if you receive any consideration. Glossy screen makes more pleasant view.
5 LEOPORD snow is very good. No questions yet. PC users take a little time to learn the keyboard shortcuts. But when they are used to is very fast to use any of this.
6 MOUSE has never been a problem for me. I’m so accustomed to using forward and backward web pages mouse when I use the mouse to the other fingers automatically slide. Can truly admire the mouse when they get used to it a couple of days.
7 keyboard is small. It would be nice to get a wireless keyboard with numeric keypad.
8 the sound is good on this computer. and medium-sized room I think this is more than enough.

1 CONS keyboard could be a bit better. I mean the numeric keypad and the F-keys.
2 should not be a hard button for ejecting the DVD. When I installed the Windows 7 DVD I was stuck. Couldnt find a way to throw without loading the OS.
3 DVD paper labels, it stucks time. So be careful if you add a DVD adhesive labels.

Overall, very pleased with this purchase.

Problems began when the sound of aluminum 20 “iMac was replaced by a white surface 20″ iMac. Not only it is very reflective (albeit high quality, high aircraft) in the glass, it is a TN display is a 6-bit per channel. TN display can be found in 20 “iMac was worse IPS panel available in 24″. Those who call for the image quality had two options: buy the 24 “iMac or buy a 20″, turn it toward the wall and make it as wallpaper, white lights and use the environment to buy quality IPS display. This back-to-back solution might appear funny, but it does not work. TN display different colors in different angles (If the user moves his eyes directly over a pixel, the viewing angle variation in relation to the location of a pixel cause color varies greatly.

    21. 5 “is a big step forward, as the baseline GHz iMac has the same rating as the old top-level model is a new two AA bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse. These are the added value that used to be more in the past, and the Magic Mouse was not even available.

New 21. 5 “, users no longer need to choose a larger display just a better picture / color quality. Glass, however, still highly reflective and uncoated (no anti-reflective coating, because you might find the camera lens, MacBook Air, and even the Audi TT’s speedometer / Tachometer) .

Those who do not use the numeric keypad would certainly be welcome in a small footprint wireless keyboard. It allows the user to bring closer to the keyboard and mouse to reduce wrist, forearm and shoulder stress.

Magic Mouse is finally get rid of the problem-prone Mighty Mouse scroll ball is available. wish were in the top surface of mouse matt / velvety than the shiny surface. Glossy finish is nothing more than cosmetic. Imagine if you trace all the Mac laptops to turn glossy . I am sure that would be a lot of complaints. Glossy finish predecessor was OK, because the fingers do not need to glide over the shiny surface. While the glossy surface is not a problem for me, because I do not use a mouse at all (Kensington Expert Mouse, and Wacom, thank you), which is a sweaty fingers would find it problematic.

Those familiar round iMac mouse you will find this familiar: Its symmetrical shape allows the user to easily lose direction because there is no cord attached to it. Therefore, the user must be examined logo first determine what direction should be upward.

integrated nVidia 9400M is more than good enough for casual users. Those who may need a 3D games or features should I choose the other two models independent video cards. < ; br />
Now $ 500 questions. How does this display, compared with 24 “of the physical dimension? This screen is 1920 pixels size, which is the same as 24″. 21 5 “18 7″ wide, which is slightly narrower than the 20, 25 “width available in 24″. This means 21. 5 “has more pixels. What about height? 12, 75″ and 24 “iMac and 10 5″ 21 5 “iMac.
    ;
I forgot to mention that in the past, the power is different in high-gloss surface (where the entire back without) and a concave surface. However, this is completely flush back and it is very difficult to detect. It takes some poking around. Another thing: the new wireless keyboard is much noisier than the previous three USB or AA aluminum wireless keyboard. Apparently, the system is not the same as that of other aluminum keyboards.

After 15 years of the PC, we decided to switch to a Mac and so far we are very happy with the iMac. 21. 5-inch screen is bright and sharp. Glare is not a problem for us because our window to the left, directly behind. Also, when we had an Apple Store, saw two 21 5-NCH and and old 20-inch screen. 21. 5-inch seems a lot bigger – not only by 7%, judging by the number. So we were really impressed. 27-inch WAYYYY feel great. It almost makes you dizzy sitting in front of it.

When the first iMac to my desk, I immediately noticed hum, causing some vibration. It’s not hard, but sufficiently disturbing. I have searched the internet and found many had similar problems with their iMacs, too. Some brought back to the Apple Store iMac services and there were some parts (mostly fan motors) has changed, but not much help. So I decided to have some to try my setup. First of all, I have tried my iMac in my kitchen countertop, which is granite. No vibration, no coloration at all. Then I put the laptop on my desk, in the same place where I put my iMac. Loud buzzing sound. So I knew the problem was due to a writing desk, not iMac. Now I have a photo album, leather decks below my iMac. Does not hum anymore. Very pleased with the machine after.

Switch from PC to Mac is easy. We do not need to put any particular course or tutorial to get started. Everything is exremely intuitive. From here or there, we had some of the questions we asked the video clips on Apple’s website and at once called the Apple hotline. Our issues were resolved immediately.

Overall, this machine is wonderful. On and off super fast. Initiate and terminate the program super fast. Very well – when we have solved the hum problem, we hardly hear anything, even though the fan constantly hear audio from your computer. Built in speakers deliver great sound that fills an entire room with ease – almost the same level as my Bose mini-system. And finally, we love the magic mouse. It’s so funny to scroll up and down, left and right, and all around the tip of your finger does not need to pull it in full screen.

Strongly recommed this machine to anyone tired of the PC and wants to be a different experience what a computer can do for you.

  5. Carl B. Glover Says:

This is my first Mac. Like many others, I’m finally fed up a number of PC issues and make the switch. So far (about two weeks), I could not be more pleased. I have never been so smooth experience in the computer. OS learning curve is not so bad. I’m feeling pretty nice already, most of whom are aware that the machine is always ready to do what you want it to boot without the endless delays, crashes, etc., that destroyed the computer experience for me. When you start it, you know its going to work. I never knew what to expect from my PC on a given day.

21 5 inch screen is bright, rich and detailed, the reflections would not be a problem, unless the room is brightly lit and has several windows, the reasonable precautions, there is plenty.

My internet speed has gone 1-3 Mbps over 9 Mbps on average. This was clearly slowed down for several months and thought I would switch to PC providers. Now I do not need. Apparently, computers are clogged with a lot of junk food, which ultimately affects the Internet treatment. Whatever the reason for the improvement, I am happy outcome.

Set-up was simplicity itself. I followed the instructions on putting all peripheral devices before you start it for the first time, and everything was recognized automatically. Not only to check e-mail address (which the Mac had already received), I had nothing to do. The whole process took only a couple of minutes.

All the iLife I tried worked flawlessly, as advertised. I have used only one (iPhoto) thoroughly so far, but there’s about a number of other, before long, and fully expect results just as good. Everything seems more intuitive and common-sensical than the Windows-based machines.

I was expecting to adapt to new problems off the keyboard, but not so. I’m already as it is better than the old PC. It may look flimsy, but it is really quite plush, with a solid feel and good feedback. The keys are quieter, almost silent, in fact, and are quite fragile. I do not need part numbers, because I rarely use it anyway. Its lack of save desk space, which is always welcome.

I like the new Magic Mouse, as well, and one small quibble. That, too, has a solid feel, and since batteries are a little heavier than the average mouse. But it is not difficult. I have experienced no pull either the desktop or mouse pad. Clicking and scrolling is easy to manage and respond quickly, unlike some other Bluetooth mouse. The only problem I have is on a two-finger swipe to promote web pages or photographs. For me it works only occasionally, but it’s probably because I just can not depend on yet. I’ll keep trying.

Built-in speakers are better than JBLs I used the PC. They are more than sufficient for normal music and movie soundtracks. The sound is sharp and detailed, and surprisingly good bass speakers in the bottom of this size.

Real plus is Apple’s well-written and detailed support section on its website. I have not read anything yet that has not been fully explained in easily understood language a layman like me. I’ve been considering buying a single instruction books, but I do not think that I have. Everyone here seems to be that most people will ever need to know.

Bottom-line recommendation: ditch the PC and get yourself a Mac. It may be a bit more expensive, but it is more than a difference in the long term, what is to reduce the frustration and time-saving if nothing else.
